Building physics
The business division Building Physics is your partner for all testing and inspection/monitoring tasks for thermal and impact sound insulation materials and is ready to provide you with expert support for certifications and approvals. We can carry out acoustic, thermal, moisture protection and mechanical tests on all types of insulation materials in our test laboratories or on site.

Our working groups
We determine the thermal, hygric and/or mechanical material properties of thermal and impact sound insulation materials for you, based on national or international standards and specifications or according to individual agreements.
Our core competencies include measuring the resistance to water vapour diffusion and testing the thermal conductivity of a wide range of building materials and products. Our profile is rounded off by tests on facade systems (WDVS and VHF) in our EOTA double wall test stands.
In the field of external quality control (according to LBO and EU-BauPVO), we take over the monitoring and certification of construction products and factory production controls for you.
- Recognized body according to LBO (PÜZ) and EU-BauPVO (NB) for insulation materials for thermal and sound insulation
- Determination of thermal, hygric and mechanical properties of insulation and building materials
- Water vapor permeability test – sd-value, µ-value
- Testing of thermal conductivity in the temperature range from -15 °C to +60 °C
- Numerical simulation – modeling of heat transfer processes, thermal bridge calculation

We carry out standard-compliant airborne sound, impact sound and structure-borne sound measurements for you on a wide variety of components and building structures in our test benches and on site. We advise and support you in the development of new materials and constructions, for example as part of approval procedures.
With regard to your building projects, we offer you comprehensive sound engineering support, prepare sound insulation certificates, clarify the causes of sound insulation deficiencies with expert opinions and help you to create good room acoustic conditions for your premises.
Our core tasks also include the preparation of sound immission forecasts for commercial, traffic, sports and leisure noise as well as sound immission measurements.

- Accredited test laboratory for the measurement of sound absorption in reverberation chambers in accordance with ISO 354 and for sound measurements on noise barriers in accordance with the EN 1793 series of standards, including the in-situ method and the Railway Directive
- Recognized VMPA sound insulation test center for acoustic measurements on buildings
- Recognized measuring point according to § 29b BImSchG for noise – valid throughout Germany
